Very often tourists coming to Wigry monastery are intrigued by a white, tall column standing by the road with iron cross on top and style of “three hills”. The legend says that the column is actually where a loving couple that broke the faith been walled up – kameduli monk and fisherman’s wife. The fact is that the column was built as a symbolic sign of entering the monastery. Similar columns can be found in other Kameduli hermitages.
