Podlaskie Voivodeship is a region on territory that contains unique natural objects such as: swamps, big forest complexes, diverse after-glacial landscape with many lakes, rivers and meanders. Those fantastic variable natural and shaped throughout ages teritorries we’ll find in Narew Valley, Bug Valley, Suwalski or Lithuanian Lakeland laying on voivodeship borders. They are characterised by natural environment and that’s why they are unique.
One of the most important features of the region are primal, untouched forests and forest backwoods, offered by Białowieża, Augustów, Knyszyńska Forests. Those exceptional forest complexes are amazingly rich in fauna and flora. Part of their characteristics is the diversity of forest habitats, thanks to which Podlaskie Voivodeship has basically all forms of lowland forests. Among fauna representatives we can meet moose, wolves, lynxes and bison of course. The region is characterised by rather big geomorphologic and landscape diversity. All that results in areas of great natural values like great forests areas with compact complexes and majority of stands above 50 years.
It is no surprise then that a major part of Podlaskie Voivodeship was covered in some form of nature protection, such as: National or Landscape Parks, or even included into European Ecologic Network “Nature 2000”.
